APA (NSW) Member Update
Threatened Disciplinary Action
Thursday 26 April 2018
NSWA never ceases to surprise us with their blatant lack of support for their staff.
NSWA has started to issue letters alleging misconduct and threatening termination despite employees acting in accordance with the Award, policies and legislation. In one situation, where paramedics refused to carry out unreasonable overtime and refused to comply with a direction from management that would be unsafe. You would think the paramedics would be thanked for their commitment to a safe workplace, not threatened to end their employment because of it!
This seems to be another in the series of heavy handed actions by NSWA Executive to crush the spirits of our hard-working staff.
APA (NSW) views this as being unacceptable behaviour from an organisation with the standing of NSWA. The repeated commitments from NSWA Executive regarding the well-being of their staff appears to be nothing more than lip service.
Any members who are in a similar position should contact local delegates immediately on receipt of such letters. APA (NSW) members will always be supported when identifying unsafe work practices and if required refusing to undertake them.
